Oh WOW!! Ok so I may have a birthday coming up (I'll be turning 23 of course....) so a package arrived in the mail today. It's a little hard to hide photography equipment from a photographer when buying it as a present. I mean firstly people have to ask. Only the truly obsessed know the difference between a Sony FE 90mm f/2.8 and a FE 16-35mm f/2.8 but if you know you know! So I knew what I'd asked for hoping against hope and I definitely knew what the box was when it arrived. This is my very first macro photo and I'm already hooked! A backlit leaf on the umbrella plant that our dear friends gave us when we moved in and I have been keeping alive by the skin of my teeth ever since. I love this plant and I am also terrified I will be the death of it so it felt even more special to be using it as the test subject for my first very close up photo today. The veins look like a road map to a tiny city, dotted with houses, locations, points of interest. I'm sure I'll test it out on a rock pool as soon as I get the chance! And a big thank you to my family - best present - I love it.
